OK, so Pinterest has really inspired me to do about a million DIY projects around the house. SO! I took my first attempt at one this weekend. It's a yarn wreath and I have to say, I'm pretty stinkin' proud about the way it turned out. I bought a styrofoam wreath about 4 sheets of felt and two spools (is that the right word?) of yarn.
Start by wrapping the entire wreath in yarn. I used the green and probably only about half of the spool (again, not sure if that's the right word). I used just a little bit of the yellow for an accent and plan to use the rest for another wreath. For the flowers, you'll need to cut several circles from your felt. Once it's in a circle, you can wave the edges around the circle (doesn't have to be perfect!) and then start cutting in a spiral fashion so you end up with a long piece of felt with a small circle at one end.
I ended up with about 10-12 flowers of different sizes and decided to make some green leaves from the left over green felt. Start with the thin side of the felt strip and start rolling inwards very tightly. Once it's all wound up, use hot glue and the small circle on the end to fasten the flower together. They are so cute! Once all the flowers were done, I started positioning them on the wreath.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. And have already hung it on my door even though it's way too early for fall, but I really don't care because I'm hoping my wishful thinking will bring about some cooler weather.
That looks super cute!! I love it!
