Weekend update- Happy Monday!

What a weekend! I'm going to start with Friday. I made a bunny cake for work which is all too adorable for me not to share here. My mom used to make one with us and although I'm pretty sure she used candy to decorate his cute face, I took the easy way out and just used gel frosting and sprinkles.

The bunny is so easy to make. It's only two round cakes with one for his face and the second you cut the bow from the middle of the cake and voila! Bunny ears. :) The whole pregnancy klutzyness didn't help me while baking though and I dropped one of the round cakes... Grrr. So I made a second round cake and decided to do cupcakes with the rest of the batter :)

Happy Monday!

Whoops! I started writing this and never posted it... sorry for the late post!
Oh, look. It's Monday again. 10 more sales days left in this month. Not that it means I'm only working for the next 10 business days, but it does mean I'm only working my tail off for the next 10 days. After that, I can kind of relax because we'll officially be on baby watch. So, here's your Monday Motivation!!

Another weekend of "nesting" and preparing for our little dudes arrival.

Household
-Vaccumed rugs upstairs and spot cleaned half of the puppy spots up stairs. Need to go back next weekend and finish the hallway and then it can be considered DONE!
-Mommy bought flowers to plant outside. When I found out I was pregnant, I kind of had a vision of decorating the house for Easter and planting flowers so that everything would be so pretty and perfect when we brought baby home... And I can't believe I'm doing just that. :)
-Bathe dogs
-Washed our sheets and sewed buttons back onto the duvet that the dog likes to eat.

Little C's Room
-Yes, we went to Ikea on Saturday and it was quite possibly the fastest trip there ever! We walked in around 10:30, made a beeline straight to the dresser, picked it up, went through self checkout and were on our way home 20 minutes later. Sunday, Daddy put the second dresser together and now the furniture is complete!
-Hung wall clings. The look adorable! I can't wait to take full pictures of the finished room for little man <3
-Organize clothes and put most away in drawers. I'm waiting on a second package from my mom with more hangers. My thought was to wash all the clothes without tags since we won't be returning those and hanging up several sizes in the closet for easy grabbing. I separated the newborn clothes and didn't wash any of those as I don't think our little guy will ever be that little... but we'll see. I hung 0-3 mos, 3 mos, 3-6 mos, and 6 mos clothes. Still have a few more to hang once the hangers arrive.

Other Stuff
-Shipped 1 hoodie. I'm still keeping my shop closed for a bit because I have some personal orders I want to finish. They keep getting bumped back with my shop orders. As of today (Wednesday, sorry for the delayed posting) I have one more hoodie to make and my shop will be caught up to date. whew!
-Wrote and sent thank yous for my work shower. Printed about half of the ones for my first shower and only wrote 3. Need to work on those this weekend and get them out!
-Put my license plate on the mommy mobile ;)
-Started packing hospital bag. So far I have a pair of yoga pants, 2 of little C's coming home outfit options, and a towel. haha. I need to "make that a priority this weekend..." says my husband. Think he's getting nervous yet? :)

Happy Monday

Hey look... it's the return of Motivation Monday! Happy Monday, party people!! :)
We had a really productive weekend considering the massive list we set out to accomplish. Household chores... unfortunately really didn't get touched. BUT! We made some major progress with little C's room and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that one more weekend will do the trick to be... um... FINISHED!

Let the nesting begin...

Let's be honest, nesting set in WAY before today. But for some reason, March 1st feels like some kind of deadline that should be at least 2 months away... but it's not... it... was... yesterday. And now I feel like the "oh shiiiiizzz" scramble coming on. I knew February would FLY by with all the classes and showers and other fun stuff we had to do, and now I'm realizing March will probably be the same way with our pediatrician open house, bi-weekly Drs appointments, and our final mothers first class for breastfeeding. So, to help me see that there's some light at the end of the tunnel, I'm writing down everything that needs to get done (God willing) this weekend.

100 days

Nothing like the 100 day mark to get the ball rolling on some serious Nursery Planning! Only 100 days left until my son is here... Wow... It really makes me think about the 100 day mark that we hit before getting married. There were SO many things left to be done. And here he is, just one little person, but he means so much to me, I want his room to be just as perfect and wonderful.
I bought quite a few things today for our little guy, including this bedding set that I found on sale at Zulily.com. I really like that it has several colors in it that we can use with other elements in the room as well as bringing in the star theme I really wanted to use.  After I picked the bedding, I went ahead and got the Monkey/Cloud wall clings I've been eyeing AND ordered a set of hand painted wood letters in his name that will be the patterns in the sheets. (FYI: Little man's name is NOT Mason. Those are the sample letters. She custom paints them according to nursery design.)
We are so lucky to have our crib, conversion rails, and mattress ready to be picked up this weekend. Several of my aunts pooled together and got us the crib as a family tradition. I'm thankful it's one less thing we have to worry about. So, it looks like all we need to do is take a trip to Home Depot and pick out coordinating paint colors and we can really get started on little mans room! So exciting to have some concrete plans finally.

Registering/Nursery Planning Part Duex

I gave up on having two registries. We have registered at Babies R Us only... which makes me only slightly piffed (lol Nat, piff). I kept comparing prices and colors offered for different things, and then I heard about Targets return policy, which I should have known first hand. They won't let you return anything without the receipt. No exceptions ,even for a registry. WTH? I don't think many people usually give gifts with the receipt anymore (except maybe me). So, whatever BRU. You have my businessm, I guess. And I dislike you already so here's a chance to make a better impression (and maybe customer) on me.

Well, yea. Little mans room is pretty much the only thing I've been thinking about as of late. You already know I'm hung up on a stars theme. But I don't want this to be girlie at all or too baby-ish as I know he'll be a little boy and not a baby before I know it. So, I've narrowed down the bedding choices which will pretty much dictate what color I paint the room and design accessories for. You can see where I'm at a stand still now.

Little Mans Nursery: Part 1 (of who knows how many)

Have you heard of this website by Urban Barn? The Room Planner. Well, geez, it's pretty awesome. I'm sitting in baby's to-be nursery right now and playing around with soon to be furniture before it even gets here to decide if we (meaning I) even like it in the room. I struggle with this space because it's an odd shape and doubles as my "workspace." Here's the space I've set up so far.
On the left is his nursery area with a long dresser where the changing pad would be on top of, a glider and ottoman, hamper and his crib against the left top wall. Between the two windows on the bottom is another dresser but taller. Starting right is my corner I guess. It's a book shelf with a desk that comes out and my computer. I like that I'm not all up in his business in case he's napping and I need to be on my computer, but at the same time, I think I'd rather have the changing area closer to the bathroom (top right). Thoughts?

OK on to the fun stuff. I'm pressing forward with a "twinkle, twinkle" theme nursery. Think blues, silver and gold. Here are some of my inspiration ideas. I love the stars pictured here and they're pretty much already bought. I love the mobile and I plan on DIY'ing his so it'll be the exact colors I want (plus,
you know I like doing that kind of stuff). Finally, I LOVE the twinkle stars peeking through this canvas and could definitely use this above his changing table. I was thinking of adding a quote to it so it would be functional even when it's not on being all pretty and sparkly. Another DIY.

Thoughts?
