food philosophy

What's your food philosophy?

I'm sorry, what? I'm moved very much by what fancies me at the moment. I do try to eat healthy. When I say try, I mean eating lots of fruits and veggies, opting for a glass of chocolate milk over that bowl of ice cream, oatmeal and a banana each morning as opposed to a bacon egg and cheese sandwich from the McDonalds drive through... But guess what... if I'm really craving that ice cream, I'm still going to eat it OR if I really want a damn cheeseburger, I'll still swing by and get that. I know I need to get back into a healthier way of eating and living for the sake of saving my pre-pregnancy body from slipping too terribly far away, but goshhh, that takes so much time and effort and I sort of don't have either of those right now. So basically, my food philosophy right now is "Gee, that looks good. Yum." :)

fast forward

Where do you picture yourself 5 years from now?

Good grief! There are so many variables right now! I'll just go with my ideal situation and what I would love to see in 5 years. Caleb would be starting Kindergarten in a few weeks... Our little girl Addison Rene would be just learning to talk and would be wobbling around chasing her big brother. I will have finally secured a career in Human Resources and would be able to work from home 2-3 days a week and stay with my babies. On the weekends we would visit, aunts and uncles and maybe a few cousins?! In my ideal 5 year future, my sister has a blonde little baby girl... we'll see if that's true!

remember when

If you could live in any time period on the past, when would it be and why?

I would like to go back to yesterday and pretend I posted this one one time. Whoops.

There are no real time periods that sticks out for me that I'd like to go back to. I think we have it so easy now, why would I want to go back? Is that weird? What I mean is, even though they had a ton of fun ring hippies in the 70's there was still a lot of drugs and a war going on. Even though the 20's saw a lot of great advancement in film and music, there was still a ton of struggle for women and people of color. Even the 50's-60's might have been cool with the fashion and man on the moon! But again, there is war and honestly, I like working! And who really wants to have to wear a damn dress everyday. So, of all the conveniences and choices I have now, why would you want to go backwards?

There- I took such a simple question and made it so complicated. If I could choose any time period I'd like to go back to, I would choose the 1700s. In fashion, men look equally uncomfortable in their attire :P but I think We, the People were working towards something great at this point in history. We saw what a great country could look like and created colonies, grew and shared food, and created the ideals on which our country was founded. Sure, along the way, we've somehow distorted how we interpret this foundation, but I believe the right ideas were there. So, if I had to choose... there I'd be.

15 minutes with fame

If you could spend 15 minutes with any celebrity, who would it be and why?

I'm not really crazy about any celebrities. I don't really follow the gossip of who's dating who, or marrying who, or adopting who from where. I guess if I had to choose, I would say Jordan Knight because that was probably the last celebrity I was really obsessed with when I was a child. FYI: He's super cool because we share the same birthday. Yes, my mom did indulge my childhood heart-throb with a NKOTB phone, sheets, posters, and I even remember playing cards... or maybe that was 90210? Anyone who knows me has probably heard about my story about my almost, maybe, coulda shoulda been brush with fame. I think it was my 8th or 10th bday party at Farrell's Ice Cream store. Jordan just so happened to be gracing the mall with his presense (because celebrities do that right?) and on our birthday no less! I remember rushing outside the ice cream place to go see, but couldn't catch a glimpse... or maybe my parents added that he was there to make my day a little special? Who knows... could have been my 15 minutes right there! Anyway. I think he might find that story funny. Or maybe he could attest to the fact that he was actually there that day. There are no questions I'd want to ask him. I could care less if the media says he's gay now. But if I had to choose, Jordan, it would be you. :)

picture happy

Post a picture of something or someone who made your day special.

Really??? This??? Today??? It has not been a wonderful day in this house. Hubby is 5 hours away picking up his new car (ugliest car I ever did see) and baby boy has been fussier than fussy today. Never the less... the only thing that could possibly make me happy on a day like today is this face... Even though he's not a happy camper today.

World minus...

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Duh. Who couldn't think of just one thing our world could do without. There are a ton of things we could use ridding of; texting while driving, pollution, racism, hatred, money, poverty, politics, jealous, etc. etc. etc.

This girl. It took me a little while (okay, an extra day) to figure out what I would get rid of. And today, as I was rocking C while in the bathtub (a combination of measures to calm him down today...), I thought I would like to get rid of uncertainty. Then, I wouldn't have to wonder what is ailing my child? Is he getting enough to eat? Why is he waking up so frequently at night? Why is he crying this time? I would never be uncertain; I would just know.

Think about it. You wouldn't wonder if you finally met "the one." If someone was trying to rip you off. You would just know. Is this career path the right one for me? Think about how many positive and forward moving people you would have in the career world of they just knew what was the right path for them. Of course, you'd still have the freedom to choose. But you'd know what you were meant to do, where you were meant to be, and who you were meant to be.

Maybe I'm lacking some gut instinct, and maybe I just want to take the easy way out, but basically, I would just like to know... all the answers. To not be unsure about anything. And mostly right now, I'd like to know when I'll be able to sleep through the night again. :)

may the odds be ever in your favor

What was the last movie you saw in theaters?

Real easy... Hunger Games! I can't believe I went to see that movie while pregnant. I LOVED the books and LOVED the movie, but geez. Just thinking about some of the scenes makes me want to cry now. I'm not even going to get into what was different and/or better from the book vs the movie, etc. because I know a million people have their own opinions. I liked it. Cinna was my fav. Katniss was beautiful. Peeta was cute, although I could have lived with a little more of sexy Gale which I'll probably get when Catching Fire (Hunger Games #2) comes out. The end.
for your viewing pleasure
I'm pretty excited for the second one to come out and the first one to be rerun on cable a million times so I can watch it again. Writing this post made me interested to know just how long I'll have to wait until those things happen. You may or may not be excited to know that Catching Fire is currently casting and is scheduled for release in November 2013. They are also going to be splitting the last book into two movies. Jeez... the last book needed to be split into two books in my opinion. So there's your scoop on that.

And yes, I haven't been to the movies since before I gave birth. I have no intentions on going until the Breaking Dawn 2 is released.

Newborn advice

If you could give a newborn child one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don't cry so much, everyone loves you. Too literal??

No really, my advice is pretty simple. Dream big.

I wonder sometimes what is going on inside his little mind while he's resting peacefully or what thoughts stir him awake in the middle of a nap. While the logical me knows he's probably only thinking of having a full comfy tummy and a dry clean diaper, I'd like to imagine he's dreaming of much more than that. If I could offer him once piece of advice, I'd tell him it's never to early to start and never too late to change. I'd want him to know that dreams do come true so he should fill them with all the things he could ever desire. I hope he dreams of being an incredible designer, or a song writer, or to fly an airplane, or to be a great inventor, or to be in the Olympics! I hope he dreams so big that he believes anything is possible. Because for as many stars there are in the sky, that's how many possibilities there are for you, baby.

30 day blog challenge

Project Life was supposed to include some hardcore blogging... but the only thing I've been doing hardcore lately is being a mommy. And guess what... I'm not sorry about that! BUT, I really do have all the best intentions of getting back into blogging. So, I suggested to my April Mamas group that we do 30 day challenge to help us all get back into the blogging routine. If you'd like to join us, here's the challenge we're picking up.

Hump Day Baby Day!

I'll have to have my mom hunt down the picture of me as a baby in a pot, but this picture really cracks me up! Can I interest you in some Caleb stew? Happy hump day baby day! :)
